How do you hide the wires to wall mounted TV?

A wall-mounted television looks very chic. In addition to better picture and sound, a flat LCD or plasma TV conjures up an aesthetic ambiance in every room. However, cables hanging out cloud the appearance of perfection. Mounting a TV so that the cables disappear into the wall can be very easy or very frustrating, depending on your skill and patience.

It is probably easiest to hide the cables behind furniture such as closets or curtains. A permanent solution, however, would be to run the cables in the wall behind the television. An existing socket is required for this option.

Look for a stud finder and make sure where the stud is. Move the viewfinder vertically up and down between the markings to see if there is an obstacle. Insulation protection in the wall is not a problem, except that it makes cable pulling more difficult.

If there are no obstacles, drill or cut a 3 to 4 cm hole under or next to the wall bracket, about 5 to 7 cm from the structural frame. Insert a bent wire coat hanger into the hole and look for obstacles around the hole. When everything is clear, drill / cut a second hole on the line of the first.

Insert the pulling cord into the top hole and guide it down. Use a hook to pull it out of the bottom hole.

Secure the cables with adhesive tape at the lower end of the cable tie-in tape and carefully pull it through the duct from above. Be careful when pulling out the cables in the top hole.

Secure the cables so they do not slip back through the hole.

If you are running cables through studs, cut away part of the drywall just above the studs. Save this part for later. Cut a 4 cm gap in the stud frame. Now lay the cables through this gap to the next “bay”. Attach the stud frame part to the stud frame with screws, fill the edge with a spatula, and paint over it with new paint.

In the case of drywall, the cable ducts are fixed in two places.

First of all at the point where the cables from the television go into the wall and secondly where the cables come out of the wall below the television. The socket can be located behind the television, which effectively conceals it.

If you want to hang the TV over a fireplace, the cables can be run along the mantelpiece. A shelf or a cupboard is ideal for the cable box, DVD player, game console, and speakers. The cables could also be run through an opening on the other side of the wall or in the basement.

If you want to hide the cables in the wall, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, the cables should not be pulled through an outside wall, as this requires drilling through bricks and insulation.
