What Do You Mean By VESA Mounts?

Founded in 1997, FDMI (Flat Device Mounting Interface) has grown over time to offer mounting solutions for flat panel displays of various sizes. No matter what panel technology and what brand of TV or monitor you buy, you can hang it securely on the wall using the VESA Mounting Standard.

This standard has been introduced to standardize the method of attaching wall handles, ensuring their versatility for every TV or monitor, regardless of make or model. There have been a few standards approved for bolt outputs in the back of the equipment.

The intervals between the outputs are given in millimeters. If the horizontal and vertical outputs are spaced the same distance, one size is entered (e.g., VESA 100). If they differ, two sizes are given.

The first value always refers to the width (e.g. VESA 200×100).

In the course of ergonomics at the workplace or the installation of home cinemas in the living room at home, monitors, televisions, or screens are increasingly being attached to brackets. This can be a swiveling TV wall mount, a dual monitor mount on the desk, a mobile/roll-able TV stand in the conference room, or a video wall in business.

The VESA is a standard for attaching flat screens / LCD / monitors/television sets to monitor brackets or TV brackets. Depending on the size and weight of the screen, at least four threads or drill holes are defined (hole pattern). Thanks to the uniform VESA standard, you can attach your television to a monitor bracket for the wall, table, or ceiling.

The prerequisite is that both the monitor/television and the monitor bracket have the same VESA standard. You can determine the VESA dimension by measuring the horizontal and vertical distance between the screw holes (center to center).

The numbers are used to measure the individual distances between the screw holes in mm. For example, a VESA value of 75×75 is a standard where the horizontal and vertical distance between the screw holes is 75mm and with a VESA value of 400×200, the horizontal distance is 400mm and the vertical distance is 200mm.

Today, this standard has expanded significantly, and it is nearly impossible to find a TV or computer monitor, be it LCD, LED, or other technology, without holes behind them so you can attach a bracket.

Usually, the supplied stand of the screen is attached to the VESA mount. To use the holder, the base only needs to be unscrewed and replaced with the monitor holder.

A common lace pattern for monitors up to 32 inches are for example 100×100 and 200×200. VESA 400×400 is often used for TVs up to 60 inches, 600×400, for example, for even larger TVs from 70 to 84 inches.
